CAST'S history starts back in 1978, when a group of restless young men living in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico (right at the border with the Imperial Valley, in So. California), in their search to create an original sound within the musical trend known as "Progressive Rock", got together with the wish to express themselves through the composition of their own music

 From the beginning CAST has identified with the structure of its members' musical project, which contains a "cast " of characters and situations out of a wild imagination.

 Every composer has musical influences that along with his talent, enrich the inspiration to create new ideas. In CAST's proposal, musical influences from the genre's pillars get together,groups like ELP, Genesis, Jethro Tull and Yes.

 With this background, in 1979 cast its musical journey with their first> conceptual work, based upon Jonathan Swift's "Gulliver's Travels", in which the group presented thier idea of Rock with a unique sound that, thanks to the members' fine preformances, found a place in the public's taste, hungry for new ideas. Right from the start, the group generated excellent reviews.

 Twenty years later, and having had acknowledged, local rock musicians participate with thier own concepts, CAST evolved, based on the group's experiences and consolidating its prestige as one of the genre's best proposal in Mexico, as can be proved by their first single "Complot", and later with a series of promotional tapes that contained just a small part of their broad work.

 In 1993 the group accomplishes one of their main goals: putting together, with their own resources, a modern recording studio with state-of-the-art equipment, allowing them to to start producing their own records, and launching their first CD for the world market in 1994.

 Given the group's constant and regular work, CAST already has a considerable number of compositions, which are being used for editing and subsequent public release in the form of CDs.These efforts have already produced positive results, with 10 completed works.

-View Of CAST: released August of 1996, 1st "LIVE" cd for CAST, released in Argentina.

- A LIVE EXPERIENCE: Just released !! March 1999 Double live CD
- IMAGINARY WINDOW: Just released !! March 1999 new studio release

 Since the presentation of their first CD, CAST has been favored with a great acceptance in the Progressive Rock underground market, recieving excellent reviews from specialized critics, who include the group in the Neo-Progressive trend. Their titles have been published in world wide musical catalogs, which has resulted in their exposure to difficult markets such as the USA, Canada, France,Italy, The U.K., Japan, Argentina and Brazil, and led to possible appearances in framed Progressive Rock festivals.

 The ideas that go into CAST's music are started and developed by the group's composer, director and producer, Alfonso Vidales, who makes every member take part in the musical arrangments.

 Besides his work in CAST, Alfonso Vidales released a solo production in early July 1995, which contains pieces of his own work for the last ten years, "Entre dos paredes".

 "Throughout time and space life is in constant movement; music as a means of self expression it also is. CAST is a part of that evolution, landing in a serious mind at the beginning, taking as main resource the sounds of imagination, always keeping a fourth ace in our sleeve. This is our third call..."
