Baja Prog 2002 Newsletter No. 1

Hello Prog Fans!

The rumors are true! The Sixth Edition of the annual Baja Prog Festival

will take place on March 6, 7, 8 and 9 of 2002. Now more than ever, you

might want to start making plans early, since the attendance is still

growing every year.

For those of you who have not heard of this event before, Baja Prog is a

series of progressive rock concerts within consecutive days, where bands

and spectators from many countries gather to exchange ideas and make new

friends. The Festival takes place in the city of Mexicali, Baja

California, Mexico, across the border with California.

And for the first time ever on the first newsletter, we are happy to

announce some participating bands:

  a.. CAIRO from USA

b.. DFA (Duty Free Area), from Italy

  c.. ERGO SUM, from Chile

  d.. HAMADRYAD, from Canada

  e.. OMNI, from Spain

  f.. PENDRAGON, from England

g.. PULSAR (reunion concert), from France

  h.. THE WATCH, from Italy

i.. Il Balleto Di Bronzo, from Italy

  j.. Visible Wind, from Canada

k.. Cabezas from Cera, de Mexico

l.. plus a few more to be announced at a later date

The basic format of the Festival will remain the same, with the main

gathering place being the Hotel Araiza Inn, where bands and fans usually

stay. Last year the Hotel was still under renovations in some areas, but

the work is now complete. Keep in mind that there are several price

ranges, and the lower priced rooms go very quicly. Hotel information will

be given in the next newsletter. Good restaurants are located in the

Hotel, as well as within walking distance. Merchandise for sale will be

located at the Teatro del Estado, where the spectacular shows will be

held.

The Baja Prog concerts will be held with three bands for each day on

Wednesday (Opening Night), Thursday, Friday and Saturday (Closing Night),

with a Closing Party after the last show on Saturday at the Hotel.
