AFTER CRYING(Hungary)
![]() http://serv1.bke.hu/~kean/music/bandinfo/1aftcry.html After Crying is a band that is very difficult to describe but musically is one of the more elevated ones of this decade. Their compositions go to extremes in a very own style that they have been defining since their first album in 1991. From sublime passages and majestic orchestrations (cello, violin, metals) to torturous dissonances of guitar and even at moments rather gloomy. Their influences are hungarian folk mixed with old-fashioned music, that is identified with the precision, technique and virtuosity of formal music and the improvisation of jazz but with today's touch. Don't miss the chance to admire the virtuosity of their live interpretations for the second time at Baja Prog. |
JADIS (United
Kingdom) ![]() http://www.dprp.vuurwerk.nl/bands/jadis/news.html Jadis is one of the best english neoprogressive bands of this decade, with the excellent guitarist and singer Gary Chandler as a leader, and since the release of their first album in 1994 (voted as the best progressive album that year) the band has become a leader of this genre. In their current lineup they have once more Martin Orford (from IQ) in keyboards. |
HALLOWEEN (France) ![]() http://www.musearecords.com/Bands/halloween.html Halloween is the perfect mixture between progressive rock and the culture of mystery legends. Their music seems to tell stories of terror, with moments of great tension where the highlights include violin player Jean-Phillipe Brun and the magnificent voice of Geraldine Le Cocq. Magnificent and complex compositions performed in a simply perfect manner. |
NEXUS (Argentina) ![]() Nexus is a surprise from Argentina. A strong female voice that seems it would carry us to hard rock, in contrast with a versatile keyboard player that creates both long ambient passages as well as complicated solos and accelerated sections in combination with a complete band, making us remember the best keyboard players of the 70's. |
PALLAS (United
Kingdom) ![]() http://www.pallas-uk.com/images/bodypage.html Pallas was one of the main bands of the neo-progressive movement in England in the early 80's, but unfortunately it only left us as legacy their fantastic album "The Sentinel". Now in the year 2000 they come back with great strength to present the material from their new album in the stage of Baja Prog. |
DRAMA (France)
![]() http://www.musearecords.com/Bands/dram.html Drama will present their elaborated and accessible music, mainly instrumental, with a powerful and varied rhythm that shows the influence of current music (world?), where guitar and keyboards alternate the dominance of complicated arrangements. Surely they will be one the bands that will please the crowd the most. |
ECLAT (France) ![]() http://www.alpes-net.fr/~simpsons/eclat_bioGB.html Eclat is a french progressive band with an excellent guitarist as a leader that gives a touch of fusion (mainly in the instrumental passages), in a frame surrounded by inventive keyboards and a very good rhythmic base. Their first album was one of the first released by Musea. |
ISILDURS BANE (Sweden) ![]() http://www.isildursbane.se/ Isildurs Bane is one greatly respected band since the early 80's, when they laid the foundations of a sound that would make them recognizable through today, being one the most adventured bands of all time. The mix of jazz fusion, progressive rock and impressing orchestral arrangements by a band of seven members on stage. Surely they will be one best bands of the year 2000. |
FIVE FIFTEEN (Finland) ![]() http://www.novision.fi/fivefifteen/ 5-15. Prog meets Alternative ? Perhaps this is the way to define the music that this finish band creates and presents with great fierceness, demonstrating that fusing genres with quality is becoming more common in all levels. No doubt this band will have great success in the festival. |
